Mr Ramen San by Claudia

Last Friday night I went to Mr Ramen San with two of my friends, one of which is graduating from RMIT and is about to start his master's course.

This was a celebratory dinner.

We came by train to this rather cute little Japanese den. It is run by Japanese. I hate places that are run by Chinese as they do it as well as the Japanese.

The place is licensed, but I'm not too sure about BYO alcohol. Perhaps someone can tell us if it is? But I know they do Japanese wines and drinks. Oh and they specialise in the ramen bowls.

The bathrooms are up a flight of stairs.

I tried their traditional vegetarian ramen which was $11. It was a tad bit on the pricey side, but I suppose you pay for quality food.

The broth had lots and lots of msg in it but the noodles was good. The tofu was silken and smooth which I love. I loved the seaweed. This was better than the one that I had at Prahran Market

This is a first- it came with an appetiser. I thought that ramen comes just by itself.

The guys shared some vegetable croquettes ($4) and gyoza ($5.50). I said to them " Is that enough for you? You should order some rice". But they were quite happy with that. I had a sample of each and was quite happy.

I'd rather pay more for quality rather than quantity anyday. I'd rather be in a clean place with staff letting me take my time and not push me out.

Where was your best ramen place?
