There are two Noodle Kingdoms in the city, but did you know that there is now one at Box Hill? There is and we talk about our visit there.
Noodle Kingdom is on Station st , right around the corner from the station. Here it was busy on a Saturday night until around 7:30pm and then it became quiet.
It is known for their handmade noodles and dumplings. They are also known for their big serves. I still remember reading in the paper about the problems that the Russell store had with mice and all. But here there is no such thing, except for the longish wait and staff who don't understand English all too well.
My combination seafood noodles ($9.80 for a huge bowl. I could not finish this) came before my mantou (steamed breads at $1.60 per plate). The noodles were good. It had that nice spring to it, but the soup was bland. I had to put some chilli in there. There wasn't a lot of seafood in this. I would have liked a little bit more.
But the mantou was good. I think they make that themselves and it helped to counteract the heat of the chilli.
Rating: 13/20-oh well. Din Tai Fung's version is probably better although they don't do big bowls like these. The service was only so-so, but what do you expect?
