PJO'Briens

PJO'Briens is an Irish pub in Southbank which has been open for many years. It is known for their whiskey and guiness. They used to be really good when I went a few years back.

Oh how times have changed now.

We went there for a midweek dinner and it was busy with the punters all drinking. It was also Good Beer Week and they were keen to put on a show.

The service was a little bit slow. We waited at the counter for about five minutes and could see that they were understaffed. Food took a little while to come

We had the fish and chips with Kilkenny sauce and boy it was the worst one I have ever had. The fish was overcooked to the point it was dry. The chips were ok. We could barely taste the Kilkenny beer. At James Squire the fish and chips are much better and we can easily detect the beer.

The salad was very lukewarm because it was under all the chips.

But at least the batter and the homemade tartare sauce was good.

Rating: 10/20- not the best fish and chips I've had. And we saw that the other table did not finish their meals meaning that they didn't like it. Luckily though we had the Entertainment book voucher. We'll probably come only just for the drinks.

Btw: We loved the ambiance but the floor needs to be cleaned. It was sticky and had crumbs all over it.
