RNIS was invited to try their place and their new menu and did not have to pay.
Bar Americano is a small bar in a laneway just off Lt Collins st. It was hard to find and easy to get lost. They primarily used to do just drinks, but now they will be doing coffee and breakfast goods. They will be open from 9am most mornings.
Going there it was a good chance for me to mingle with their staff and other people over coffee. They have a small bar and kitchen which is open so you can see the bartender in action.
I tried their piccolo. They use Seven seeds and coffee supreme blends. Their piccolo was stellar and strong.
Their Tramezzini (sandwiches) menu was limited but they do well in making the jaffles and things. I tried everything on the menu and enjoyed their cheese with pickled tomato sandwich as it was sweet from the pickles.
The tuna toasted sandwiches was also good and they used an Italian brand of tuna which is authentic.
We also enjoyed the Italian panettone. It was sweet but not overly and it was moist. The icing was full of sugary goodness.
The fig cake-like thing was also good.
The complimentary cookie was also good and healthy. It was one that was filled with nuts.
Rating: 17/20- very very Italian. And very very very good coffee.
Many thanks to Bar Americano for the invite and do come for breakfast. I surely will.
