Students "scammed" degrees

There is a new scam lurking about and we think it is worth telling students about the new scandal.

In Australia international students are being scammed by the Overseas Students Assistant HD for a certificate. They pay anywhere between $3500-$5700 for that certificate which is false. About 95 universities have been targeted (42 Unis and 53 TAFES).

The ads are on Weibo and other Chinese social sites and was first reported by Xinhua news in China. And then it appeared on Fairfax media and Ninemsn. The company has been active on social media but since Fairfax exposed them they took down the site.

Then they are also asked to pay $6500 for their details to be entered into the uni database.

Desperate students use this method to try and get a job. Or for a diploma they ask for this to get into bachelor degree.

So far the matter has not been investigated by the police and the universities hope that it would have as it constitutes "fraud". Universities do everything to protect their special seals and paper including putting it under lock and key. Also employers value real and authentic certificates

Our response
We are really angry and we support the universities all the way. We worked hard to get the degree, why buy the fake?

A university never ever does this. Students have to apply for the certificate which has the official seal. Graduates are outraged by this.

Asking for a fake certificate is fraudulent and illegal and in many ways is unfair for other graduates who worked very hard to pass their degrees. Also graduates may get caught in the workplace for not knowing something that was taught in their degree.

In short: not worth it. Better to take your time.
