RNIS received a ticket free from Study Melbourne
The Royal Melbourne Show is on every year in late September and this year is no different. There are trains that go every ten minutes to the show. Normally it is $36 to enter the show for an adult and for a student its about $20. There are heaps of rides there as well as nightly fireworks. We talk about our experience at the show this year
Getting there was not a problem. We got there by train which took about 10-15 mins. There was no atm available at the grounds but we had heaps of cash available to make the purchases. There were a lot of people in the showbag pavilion trying to make last minute decisions. We made our showbag decisions before we came by going online.
But the toilets were hard to find and there was a huge line to go there.
Advance Dog Pavilion
We went in and it was fun petting all the animals. It was also fun seeing them dance.
Tastes of Victoria
Here we were treated to the tastes of the high country with lots of sauces, wines and Burch Purchase on offer. And there were many things including learning how to cook with mussels.
Masterchef kitchen
There was a free tour of the kitchen for everyone and we got to go in and see the Masterchef kitchen in action. It takes about 130 crew to help prepare the kitchen for filming. Although we didn't get to see George, Gary and Matt in action we got to get up close and personal with some of them for a photo.
The sheep, cattle and Jayco nursery
It was fun to watch all the animals. Pity though that there isn't as many animal pavilions as the years before.
Woolworths Fresh food pavilion.
We had a ball tasting many of the samples there and the food there was so fresh. Some of the food was cheap: ie $5 for a jaffle.
But the only thing that we would have liked is the Taste showbag to be available and not have run out so early in the show.
We bought some showbags from Superfood Ideas and Women's weekly but some of that stuff was missing, hence no photo. Thank god we didn't go for the Super Show trail bag as there were so many complaints about that bag.
Was it worth it?
Erm, if I had to pay the $36 for the ticket then I would want more stuff to be included such as free travel to and from the show. People had to fork out $20 for car parking. But luckily though we had a monthly zone 1 pass which allowed us to get to and from the show.
And more bathrooms. And maybe free lunch or dinner.
Many thanks to Study Melbourne for paying for our ticket.
