Carlton Farmers Market

As part of RNIS's healthy living month

This first one was really hard for RNIS to find as somebody did not read the location right and we ended up at Carlton North Primary school grrr. But after while and searching on Google we found it. It was actually at the Carlton Primary school on Parlmeston st

This is the first market that is hosted near Lygon st and right near Melbourne uni. It was easy to get to by the number 1 or 8 trams from the city or walk there if you are from Melbourne uni.

Adam Brandt (from the Greens which is a political party) and others said it was about connecting the community so that people learn where their food came from.

Sarah Robbins spoke to Meld and said it was International students wanting to shop for the best produce and knowing where it came from. Its true. International students come to Melbourne and should try new things including tacos, macaroons and other things. Even the traditional egg and bacon roll which is $7

Strawberries and pears are in season and many people bought them and ate some at the markets. Also many people brought pets into the market some of which are very friendly.

Rosa Mitchell (Owner of Rosa's kitchen) whipped up a lot of dishes for market goers to try.

International students do come to this market as they run one on the first and the third Saturday of the month from 8am-1pm. Dogs are welcome and you can pat the dogs.
