National DJ Comp and why its a great idea to get involved

The National DJ/Band competition has been very successful over the last few years. It is a competition to see who can play the best music. Its also a chance for students to network with local DJs and hopefully get a few gigs at some of the locals pub, bars and clubs. Some of the gigs pay well, depending on where you play.

About 30 unis from all over Australia back this competition. It is run by the Student Unions of each campus. Here they will host their own heats and then all the unis will get together for the semi finals and finals.

Students play their own music. Its whatever you are comfortable with. Students will play for about 10-15 mins each depending on the campus.

Each Uni has their own cutoff date for the submission of entries so you do have to check the dates with your uni's Student Union.

There are quite a few rounds before the semi finals. Each uni has their own judges who will decide on who goes to the next round.

Only students from eligible unis can apply.

The final prize is $1000 and the final will be at the Eagle Bar La Trobe Uni.
