This is a guide as to where you can find ingredients to make dishes from your home country. Melbourne has an array of culinary delights. But making them yourself can be fun and healthy.
Asian: Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian.
You can easily find this in Melbourne's CBD as well as Preston, Springvale, Richmond (Victoria st) and Footscray.
Great Eastern in the city is a big store and it has discounted but still good groceries. Its on Russell st in Chinatown.

There are shops in Footscray that cater for Indians. Also in Dandenong.
If you don't want to travel far there is a place in the city called "Curry corner".
Polish:
The Polish Deli at the market is a great place to start. It is in the Deli area. Here they sell all the polish meats and breads
Lebanese:
There are heaps of Lebanese and Turkish shops along Sydney Road in Brunswick and Coburg. A1 is just one of them.
Greek:
Emerald deli in South Melbourne has some of the best cheeses. Sweet Greek in Prahran have some of the best Greek sweets. You can also buy produce, olives etc at any market. There is also a street in Melbourne's CBD just dedicated to Greek food.
Italian: Lygon st in Melbourne has some of the best Italian places.
But it is the Mediterranean Wholesale Market that sells Italian ingredients. It is on Sydney Road in Brunswick
French:
La Parisian Pates in Carlton has the famous french sausage. And Emerald Deli in South Melbourne Market has the famous French cheeses. Some of the french ingredients can be found at "The Essential Ingredient" in Prahran Market.
King and Godfree on Lygon st has the French wines.
