This cafe has been opened since 2009 and has been going strong for a few years. It is near South Yarra station (about 5 mins walk) and under an apartment building which is dog friendly.
Outpost is one place that has been featured in the Good Food Guide. The Asian lady wasn't as friendly as the Australian male. The Asian one could not understand English well. She also plonked my plate down.
The Australian was happy to let me take photos of the place. The Asian not so. She did seem to have an attitude problem. Perhaps she was underpaid?
The place is very small and has limited seating. Most people seemed to get takeaway.
Here they do breakfast all day as well as have lunch specials.
I had the Asian omelet wrap ($16) with chilli sauce. Here it did not look like a wrap, but rather a quesadilla. But the food was good.
The coffee was just so so.
The banana bread was lovely.
Given that it is a bit far from where I live I probably wouldn't come back in a hurry. But if you do study at Swinburne and live near the place and don't mind the attitude, go for it.
PS . I was reading in the Age that some of the cafes have shut due to low profitability and high rents. The Arepa bar was one of them. Hopefully if the service changes in Outpost and is good as their food then they might be able to survive the tough times.
Oh and another hint, do fix up your site.
