Curry Corner

The Ceylon Curry corner has been around for some time now, mainly for a number of years. Its primary spot is on the corner of Lt Bourke and Russell.

It is run a friendly Indian guy and it pays homage to all the spices and Indian grocceries in Melbourne's CBD.

Here a bag of spice is just $2.50

It was here where I bought a $2.50 samosa. It was lovely and flaky the way a samosa should be. Oh yeah it was also homemade.

Yum can't wait to try their curries.

Wood n Chimney South Melbourne by Katherine

I recently bought a Groupon deal for this. The deal is $10 for a $20 voucher for one person to spend in Wood N Chimney. I tried to book online but got no answer.

Meld Magazine also have a 25% off the total bill discount in their book.

So what did I do? I walked in. They were happy to take my voucher. At the time there were a few take away coffees to be made but hardly anyone at this time eating in.

The place is about a five minute tram ride from MSAC via route 112 to West Preston. 

The floors were sticky and like Melbourne Central the furniture was really old.

My waitress didn't smile. She was friendly, but no smile. She also ate on the job, which is something you are not really supposed to do.

But only thing redeeming was the food. The food was better than Melbourne Central's one.

I had the pancakes with Mixed berries and strawberries with Maple syrup ($16) and a short black.  Well the pancakes were supposed to have mixed berries but it only just had blueberries. Maybe they ran out of raspberries? The strawberry was just ok.

The pancakes were a tad bit dry, but they were warm. And they fared slightly better than the ones at Melbourne Central.

The short black was just ok. But it came out very quickly unlike the pancakes which took a while.

I suppose I can't really complain much seeing as I paid $10 for what normally was a $20 meal. Good thing I didn't pay full price. Next time I'll just get a pizza and a lemonade from there rather than Melbourne Central. And I'll be happy to take Sally and the Meld Magazine discount.

Parkland the Exhibition

At RMIT's Art school which is quite tricky to find as you have to go into an inner lane called "Rodda Lane" and access the building from there. Once you get inside there are some steps to the gallery. Walk up those and there you'll see the big entry sign to the gallery.

Once inside it is dark and the images are moving. Here you are transported to a lovely park in Toorak where you can forget about study for a while

Until the films finish.

Aftermath: Katie Paine

This is an art exhibition run by RMIT Link arts going from 29th of May to the 7th of June with their opening on the 28th of May.

It is a mixed media installation about education, experience, social and environmental responsibility.

As you walk in the room you are greeted by foreign objects and old newspapers. And then the bed which symbolizes death. At the back there is a picture about a Jewish camp which also symbolizes death, darkness and sadness.

On the left there is a door. You walk through it and there is NASA. Here it represents hope and seeing things in a new light.

On the other side there is cake and the candle smells. You are reminded of a Jewish church by the smells and the pictures on the floor.

About 100 people came to the opening and there was free drinks and food and a chance to mingle.

Moccona's new coffee

Moccona has released a new coffee flavour: Mocha. 
I bought it for $13 at Woolworths- it was on special. Buy this and you could win a trip to Italy.Its strong, earthy and rich in flavour. It reminded me of Africa.

It tastes really chocolatey.

At the top it has the mocha froth.

This is really strong in caffeine; put too much in and you could go crazy.
