It is the same as last year with five minute massages, free fruit and water and stationery. Outside the caf in Building 8. It was on Wednesday 29th of May at 12pm and everyone just grabbed all the stuff.

Heirloom
Heirloom is a Japanese restaurant with a French flare to it. It is where Citardines hotel is on Bourke st.
At 1pm when I came there wasn't many people, but it does seem to be popular on Urbanspoon with 27 others blogging about it. I must have been the last one to blog about this. They are featured in Meld's little book of discounts.
It is run by the French but the food is mainly Japanese They serve Western style breakfast as well as Japanese lunch and dinner. Lunch consists of bento/sushi sets.
They also are a bar- hence I ordered lemonade ($4.50)
I got the Chirashi lunch special for $22.50. It came with the chirashi, udon, edaname and pickles. I was full after this. Loved the udon noodles and the sushi rice. It took a while to come. Didn't like the fish so much as the fish wasn't fresh. I would have liked it even more if they had some beancurd and eggs in the chirashi. And caviar.
The soup in the udon was a tad bit salty for my liking. But the addition of spring onions added to the texture of this dish
It's fine dining- but at a fraction of the price. Thanks Meld for giving me the 10% discount coupon.
I'd be happy to come back and try their $14.50 weekday specials or their sushi and tea as the table next to me had that and it was great. The guy also seemed to chat with what seemed the manager.

Reconciliation week bbq
Reconciliation week is all about harmony. Everyone has a story to tell. hence there was a free BBQ hosted by the City of Melbourne.

It was a nice sunny day. Great for a BBQ and some scary looking creatures.
There were three choices; Emu, Beef and Veggie burgers. I chose the latter. Nicely cooked by their catering company Black Olive.

Their motto is live life love life.
They always have $1 vouchers or free drinks if you buy certain magazines.
All of their drinks are under $7 and if you buy their drinks, you can buy a banana slice for $2.
The people working there are young teens and uni students most of them Australian.
My tropical crush was slightly sweet but the fruit was fresh. And there was all of the ice down the bottom which made it hard for me to finish

Oli and Levi
Oli and Levi is a tiny little hole in the wall cafe. But a cute one.
I never knew this place existed until Sweet and Sour Fork wrote up about it.
Here this place specializes in sandwiches and $2 pastries. But they also do coffees.
The place when I came was really busy with all the office workers grabbing their coffee fix. It also seemed to be the only coffee place in Comandel lane outside Citardines and the finance places.
Since this is such a small, comfortable space; there is no bathrooms here. the kitchen is open, meaning that you can see what they are doing.
There is limited outside and inside seating and the waitress told me that they don't do baguettes until 12pm. I was hoping for a baguette...sadly after seeing the pictures of them. They are $9.90.
Instead I got the $8 salmon and egg wrap and $2 apple and rhubarb pastry. Oh and also a long black ($3.50).
The long black was smokey and nutty in taste. At least it wasn't the super duper size that I sometimes get as I wasn't in the mood for this.
I loved my burrito, but except it was hard to eat with cutlery. So I used my hands. I loved the rocket salad...yummy
And I also loved the pastry. It wasn't too sweet but it was nice and warm. The rhubarb balances the sweetness of the apple nicely.
I'd love to recommend this to students and I'd surely return someday to try out their baguettes.
