Nine Taiwanese Dessert place by Katherine

As part of our Summer dessert series.
Here I went to visit new Taiwanese dessert place near RMIT University. it had just opened a few weeks ago and they haven't had a lot of success so far.

There is a little competition with Dessert Story across the road and Blackball around the corner. But hopefully in the coming months they'll have more people.

Here not only do they sell just Taiwanese desserts they also sell ice cream and drinks. Their desserts are organic which means that it is healthy for you.

I had their green tea flavoured ice cream and their caremelised fig ice cream. At first I wasn't too sure which flavour matched with green tea, so I asked and the server recommended carmellised fig. And right she was. The flavours complimented each other. The green tea flavour reminded me of Japan. It tasted like match tea.


The carmelised fig was sweet and fruity.

Two scoops of ice cream was $7.

I would love to come back and try their big bowls of Taiwanese dessert particularly in winter time when they will have their hot desserts.

World Restaurant and Bar

Disclaimer: This is not an actual restaurant post rather it is more of a party and the Newintstudents team were invited as they were members. Only one of them could go and that was Katherine. All opinions were entirely her own.

"World Restaurant and bar is a lively place in Southbank. They are like Campari in many ways. Like Campari they do great pizzas and drinks. They even have a $15 drink and pizza deal for their members".

"They do have EFTPOS but it is a $10 minimum."

" The dress code is mainly smart casual. Many people also wore suits to the party".
" Like Campari they look after their members. Lots of people including myself came and enjoyed the event thouroughly"

"Unlike what others say on Urbanspoon their music is not loud and their atmosphere is very lively"

"I love the bookshelves. It reminds me of a old Vintage library. I loved the chandeliers and old fashioned mirrors. The atmosphere reminds me of the Moat which we went to late last year".

" My thoughts on the food: pizzas were yummy, but the Thai salad not so. The Thai salad was really bland and I didn't really like the dried vermicelli. I'm not too sure about the mango salsa on the taco though. I thought it tasted weird".

" The drinks: very limited. I would have loved for them to have lemonade. But I can't complain- just a thought for next time".


" I shall be back next time maybe with Sally and my library group. And this time I might just order the pizza with a lemonade for $15 or one of those good looking burgers with chips".

Fun and free (or cheap) stuff that you can do in Melbourne

Students do you need a break from study. Well here are some fun and free/cheap stuff to do in Melbourne

1) Watch the fireworks in Docklands. They are usually on for New Years Eve and Australia day.
2) Visit Melbourne Museum- its free for students to visit and there is always something new and exciting every time you visit.
3) Visit Melbourne's laneways- its always fun to look at all the artworks for free and you can even take a picture of it.

4) Tour Melbourne on the free city circle trams. Here you can listen to all the audio about Melbourne's history and where the famous landmarks are. The tram covers most of Melbourne's landmarks. Best of all it is free.
5) Visit the National Gallery of Victoria- there's always free exhibitons going on and its always ever changing.
6) Visit Abbotsford Convent. Its free and Lentil as Anything doesn't cost much except for a gold coin donation.
7) Visit the Botannical gardens- its free and its so close to the city
8) Visit the Prahran market. Its open on Tuesdays, Thursdays- Sun and there are so many activities to do for free.
9) Visit St kilda in the summer- but go during the daytime and visit the beaches. Even better, go on a Sunday and visit the St Kilda Markets. More sights to see and more fun to be had.
10) Visit Victoria Market- it is free to visit and sometimes there is events going on over there.

Anyways whatever you do in Melbourne, have fun exploring it

International students you have rights whether it is renting, buying, being employed, studying etc. Discrimination is not ok.
Know the law and you will be fine.

Online Overseas Health cover comparision

Students now there is an eaasier to find out how much OSHC costs before coming to Australia. You don't neccessarily have to go with the unis one. It all depends on your circumstances

All you need to do is to enter the start year and the end year for your OSHC and then there will be a list of costs and what each provider covers so that you can compare them.
Most providers cover the same things but some goes over $500 per year ( a cost which some students can't always afford).

RMIT goes with Medibank Private but you don't have to. 

Students should do their homework before applying for OSHC.
